Flat Plans and Rationales

This is the flat plan I
created which will allow me to know where everything will be set out on my front cover, contents and double page spread when creating my magazine for the main task. Having this will help me in making sure everything is spaced out efficiently and it isn't too overcrowded.

When creating my flat plans I had to take 6 points into consideration. These are the;
  • composition/framing
  • colour scheme
  • fonts
  • layout
  • mise-en-scene, lighting, costume, hair, makeup, props, facial expressions, position within frame, direct in direct mode of address
  • language and register.
I had to carefully lay out where everything would go in order for the page not to look overcrowded and therefore making the pages had to read for the target audience. I wanted to space out the features on my page correctly in a way that would present each feature comfortably without clumping several items together. After completing my colour scheme research I decided that the colour used will be white, blue and red. These colours will also compliment each other well whilst also following the Levi Strauss theory of contrasting one another. On my  inspiration page I have uploaded several ideas of fonts in which I feel would fit well with my genre and target audience.
 Several of these fonts can be used to show contraction but I want them to follow the same sort of pattern. When thinking of the language I did not want it to be too colloquial but not  too formal. I think this would relate more to my target audience due to them still speaking informally while trying to use sophisticated language for late in life. I will use a informal tone in my magazine in order to appeal more with my target audience however it will not cross to slang. My model on my image will be smiling in order to be inviting to my target audience will also being inviting. For the front cover it will be central dominating that part of the page. On the contents page the sub-images will be located on two separate points on the page that will be appropriate. On the double page spread the image will be placed on the right page dominating it. The mode of address throughout will be friendly in order to appeal more with my target audience but also being direct.
